Chloe at Pelham Girl Scouts Community Day 2025

March 1st 2025

We were thrilled to present a mini workshop on Digital Wellness and Healthy Phone Habits for Girl Scouts and parents in our community! Our co-founders prepared a special interactive presentation sharing some tips for developing healthy phone habits.

Participants were led through a brief tutorial for setting up Focus Modes for their devices, which help eliminate distractions for scheduled homework time or bedtime. Let's say you're bedtime is at 9:30 pm - your Focus Mode for bedtime can mute all notifications except your favorites/important people in your contacts like parents or siblings. Since notifications would be silenced, this little tech tip paired with charging your phone in another room is a great way to stop using your phone during wind-down hours!

Open discussions on how much you use your phone, tablet, or computer devices outside of areas for work also inspired Girl Scouts to share their screen-free alternatives for winding down like baking, painting with music, or biking with friends now that the weather is getting nicer. In addition to discussing healthy tech-free alternatives, we discussed how our emotional state can affect our physical state, and vise versa.

Physiology is the way our body moves and lives. If you feel sad, your body language shows it by being more reclusive. Through a body scanning exercise, participants conveyed their emotional state physically - understanding that happy has a different body language than sad or tired. So if you've been feeling sad for a while and want to feel better, change your physical state by copying what your body looks like when you're happy!

And of course, Chloe was present to bring smiles to everyone reminding us all to mind our gray matter!
