Chloe: The Making Of

We're excited to introduce Chloe, our newest and most beloved character! She’s more than just a mascot; she’s a symbol of mental health and wellness. Chloe’s design is a testament to our studio's commitment to creativity and innovation. Let's dive into the journey of how we brought this cheerful character to life.

Chloe's origins lie in a previous design that we felt could be enhanced. Originally designed as a goofy cartoon brain with hairy legs, our studio saw an opportunity to expand on the character. An opportunity to create a character that was not only visually appealing but also resonated with our audience on a deeper level. With this in mind, we embarked on a design process that would transform our initial concept into the lovable Chloe we know today.

The Design Process

1. Inspiration and Research: Our first step was to immerse ourselves in the world of rubber hose animation. This iconic style, characterized by its fluid and exaggerated movements, perfectly aligned with the playful and energetic personality we envisioned for Chloe. We studied the amazingly animated 2017 Cuphead video game to get a sense of style and motion!

2. Character Development: With a solid foundation in rubber hose style, we began to develop Chloe's character. We wanted her to be approachable, friendly, and relatable. Her design evolved through a series of sketches and iterations, focusing on her facial features, body proportions, and overall posture. We also explored different color palettes to find the perfect combination that would capture her cheerful and optimistic spirit. We decided on a pink bubblegum color that evokes a 'squishy' feeling in combination with a mid-walk animation frame as if she's bouncing in her little walk. 

3. Digital Transformation: Once we were satisfied with Chloe's character design, it was time to bring her into the digital realm. We utilized Photoshop and Affinity Designer 2. We also paid close attention to the line quality and fluidity of the rubber hose style, ensuring that Chloe's movements were smooth and dynamic.

We believe that Chloe perfectly embodies our studio's values and mission. She is a symbol of hope, resilience, and the power of creativity. We can't wait to share more about Chloe in our design collection! We hope she will be a wonderful addition to our studio!
